The sim project sort of took on a life of its own. As I was building / designing my experimental phoenix 2000 I wanted to get a feel for the plane that is with out a large investment. As I had worked for Grumman on DARPA's X-29 forward swept wing plane. I new what I had to do.
  • DESIGN AIRFRAME PIE in the SKY or my wish list.
  • Get an aerodynamicist on board
  • Start writing a SIM in C on my SUN Microsystems 3/80 (MOT 68000)
  • Interface controls, engine, control surfaces, etc. to the computers
  • GET REALLY FEED UP! Project Terminated! pre 1989.
  • Project restarted on 'back burners', found a book on Sim on your PC..('93)
  • Designed most of my own hardware for VME hardware currently 3 SUN SPARC engine
  • Joined EAA here in Dallas ('93/'94)
  • My C Sim flew from DFW to LAX with out crashing.... ya....
  • Built 2 engine / fuel management computers one per engine. Computer was based one my Ford Torus 3.0 engine. Engine runs in test stand for 4 hrs.
